Keeping all the data on the table

For many collectors it is all about getting a look at the hard facts, the data.  They know exactly what they need to find and just need to skim through information so they can cut out the noise.  We have introduced a table view in our search results page that allows for the intake of more information at a glance.  

Unfortunately, much of the historic listings do not have images, but as I have mentioned before as time goes on a great number will.  The table view does away with place holders for images and simply lists the information that matters most to you, including the price and date amongst others.

 
 
 

Advanced Search is here! 30 million-plus items is no longer a nuisance.

It couldn't be simpler; the exclusion of words from searches is vital to navigating a database the size of Collectionbuddy's.  

Boolean search certainly adds functionality, but not everyone knows how to utilize it. Collectionbuddy has a simplistic yet effect advanced search,  that includes options to enable all of the filters.  

Even though we call it an advanced search, it should be easy enough for anyone to use to effectively.  

Collectionbuddy Issue #1 Vol. 1

One of the five sets of collectibles we heavily populated with eBay data is Comic books.  It is for this reason, our ComiCON launch and my own enthusiasm for the medium that I developed a user guide in the form of a comic. 

 It illustrates (literally) how to get straight to the historic data in Collectionbuddy.  Most user guides are either mind numbingly dry or video presentations that require that you stop everything you are doing to watch a video. I have always been a huge fan of Icon Books' 'Introducing' series, and feel complex information can always be presented visually. 

The Collectionbuddy buddy, was sourced from Wefunction.com.  He was a royalty free character who was exactly what we were looking for.  Just a couple tweeks to his eyes and mouth and we were set.  

Large versions of this comic will be on display at the Toronto Comic Book Fan Expo on November 22nd, to show attendees how to use the software in a language they understand;

Long awaited features implemented, Hurrah!

And without further adieu... Collectionbuddy.com  is pleased to introduce the features you've all been waiting for...  SORT AND FILTER! 

A pair of simple but vital features give users the control needed, to get the data required, to organized items the way they want.  In short, filter and sort have turned Collectionbuddy's historic pricing catalog from a novelty into a very powerful tool.    

It is now possible to filter variables including auction, fixed price, buy it now, sold item, reserve and no reserve.  Filters allow the isolation of listings from all the other noise that might be out there.  A perfect example of filters being implemented are:
1. Showing only sold items.  After all, what good is a price listing on an item that never sold.
2. Showing only "buy it now" listings.  Sometimes you just want to see what is the eBay equivalent of an MSRP is.  


Sorting is key to organizing data in such a way as to let you see the most relevent information without scrolling through hundreds of listings.  
Sorting is absolutely necessary to look up the most current auction values.  

1. Usually it is the most recent historic data that is the most relevant, sorting by date makes this possible.   

2. For the sake of interest, organizing data with the highest price first or with the most number of bids first can give you really neat auctions.

 At Collectionbuddy, we are trying our hardest to give you the tools to get to the information you want, but most of the time we see you as the expert. It is up to you to interpret the data how you see fit

CollectionBuddy Launch at ComiCON!! (Fan Expo)

Collectionbuddy will make its public debut to an enthusiastic, yet critical crowd this Sunday  November 22nd at the Toronto Comic Expo.  The features which we have implemented in the last little while combined with some to be launched shortly should really appeal to the comic collector.

As a someone who is into comics myself (into Vertigo and Image), I know that there will be excitement concerning the niche Collectionbuddy will fill.  Through talking to various comic  collectors and retailers over the last little while, it has been made clear to me that traditional price guides are worthless.  It's what the market will pay, not what someone thinks the market will pay, expert or not.  

The Fan Expo will be an interesting environment for field testing and demoing Collectionbuddy. It will be a large market, with many buyers and sellers, with prices that are somewhat malleable.  To the benefit of some, and possibly the dismay of others, Collectionbuddy.com will be providing a tool to help comic collectors get the most of the expo. I Just hope we don't get sellers angry at us because we have revealed their prices as being far above market rates.
